Advance Voting Continues This Week for Sunday Package Sales, SPLOST Referendum

Voting is underway in Gwinnett County and the City of Dacula.

Gwinnett County and City of Dacula polls are open this week for advance voting.

After Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks, Councilman Gregory Reeves and Councilman Wendell Holcombe qualified with no opposition, only one city issue is left for Dacula residents to decide -- a referendum on whether or not to allow Sunday sales of packaged distilled spirits.

In a blog post on Dacula Patch, Mayor Wilbanks reminded voters the polls will be open at Dacula City Hall from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each work day until Nov. 1.

Gwinnett County residents will cast ballots Nov. 5 on the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum. The three-year tax would generate an estimated $498 million to be used for transportation, public safety, parks and other projects.

Also on the Nov. 5 ballot for Dacula area voters is the special election for State House 104. Teresa Cantrell, Chuck Efstration, Tim Puckett and Todd Tyson are seeking to fill the seat vacated by Donna Sheldon.

Absentee voting by mail is currently underway. Voters may also cast ballots in person at the Gwinnett County Elections Office, 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200 in Lawrenceville. Beginning Oct. 26, advance voting will be held at the Elections Office and satellite locations including the Dacula Activity Building, located at 2735 Old Auburn Road in Dacula.

Advance voting hours at satellite locations are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, Oct. 28 until Nov. 1. Saturday voting will take place on Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The last day to vote by absentee ballot or advance in person is Friday, Nov. 1. Election day voting hours are 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
