Voters returned to the polls on Dec. 3 to decide the State House 104 race after none of the four candidates received enough votes to avoid a runoff during the Nov. 5 election.

Candidates Chuck EfstrationTeresa CantrellTim Puckett and Todd Tyson all sought to fill the seat vacated by Donna Sheldon. Efstration and Cantrell received the most votes and were pitted against each other in the runoff.

Unofficial results show Efstration won the State House 104 seat with 64.57 percent of the vote (1,230 votes) to Cantrell's 35.43 percent (675 votes).

Efstration is a former Gwinnett County prosecutor who previously served as chairman of the Gwinnett County Republican Party. Cantrell, a Dacula resident and owner of Cafe 313, previously served on the Gwinnett County Planning Commission.

In a post on her campaign Facebook page, Cantrell congratulated Efstration and thanked her supporters.

"I am very thankful to God for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in this district," she wrote. "I am thankful for dedicated family, friends, volunteers, and supporters. We worked hard and prayed hard. I congratulate Chuck and wish him the best."
