Real Scandals Need Real Solutions

FROM WHERE I STAND

The latest talking points from the administration in Washington warns us that we would be better off not to allow political distractions and phony scandals filling the media to bother us. We are to believe the use of the word “scandal” is a distraction by which we should not be bothered.  Finding a definition or a laid-out plan as to the main course escapes me. We are to believe that all of a sudden, because the campaigner-in-chief makes a speech lecturing the American public on not believing there are any real scandals to occupy our time and keep us from moving forward with the plans to enhance the upward mobility of the middle class in our country.

To be sure I understand the so-called phony scandals; we are to believe that the plan to provide guns internationally to our southern border neighbor nation is no big deal about which to be worried. The fact is that as soon as the guns were made available to the gun runners, drug lords, and heinous criminals, the ability to track those guns and to be able to control their use was no longer possible. Just because it so happened that one of the guns was used to kill an American citizen who was hired to protect our border, is no big deal and is to be seen as a phony scandal according to this administration. The deaths of four American citizens in the attack on the American consulate in Libya was no big deal and could not be called a scandal just because we do not know who refused to follow through on their job of protecting the State Department employees while on service for our country we are told that it is not a scandal. The IRS profiling and delaying the approval of certain conservative groups who applied, according to the law, to be able to function within the rules of law, is no big deal and certainly should not be seen as a scandal, even though at this time finding the person or persons who ordered this intrusion into the personal and corporate lives of American citizens is not a scandal, according to this administration. Spying and collecting data on law abiding American citizens should not sound any type of alarm because, according to this administration, that is not a scandal. Reporters who function under the rules of law in our Constitution, such as; freedom of speech and freedom of the press, were illegally targeted by the DOJ, but that is just a phony scandal according to the current administration in Washington. We can conclude then we have nothing to worry about. All these phony scandals are just temporary distractions designed by political strategists to move us off message, we are to believe. We must understand everything is all right and we have nothing to worry about. From where I stand we have much to worry about because these are real scandals and we must find real solutions.
