Damage Control

Don't wait to start getting back on track after damage has been done.

Weather is warm and beautiful.  Perfect for family BBQ, swimming pool parties, graduation celebrations and so much more!

Question is, how well will you stay on track towards the healthy goals you've set for yourself? Will you eat every two and a half to three hours? Will the majority of your meals be healthy? Will you combine a lean protein with whole grains, whole wheat or fruits and veggies? How much damage will be done over the summer?

If you slip, the way to recovery is to start fresh now!  Not tomorrow, not after the friends head back home, not after dinner ... now. Deciding to take control of your actions is one aspect of being mentally fit. Choose to fuel your body with only the very best fuel. Get back on schedule by eating every three hours to avoid excessive hunger and eating out of control which leads to choosing empty calorie foods and beverages.

Drink water especially if that's gone to the wayside. Sodas and alcoholic beverages can leave you dehydrated, especially in this heat. You may feel sluggish and have low energy if you haven't been hydrating properly.

Get six to eight hours of sleep! This is a great goal for all of us. Everything in life is better when your body and mind are well rested.  If you're getting up at 5 a.m. to workout, or get to work, make it a plan to be in bed by 8 p.m. but no later than 9 p.m. I know it sounds incredibly early, but keep your goals in mind when planning your evenings. It's worth it!

When damage is done, don't wait any longer than absolutely possible to turn back and head in the right direction.  You're not alone in the journey of a healthy, happy life!
