Health & Fitness

Week in Preview

Free workouts, what's new in OBC Gwinnett and a delicious chicken recipe.

After working hard for 3 straight months of camp, it's time for most of our instructor team to take a recovery week.  Thank you Gretchen, Jamie, Stacie and Lori for all the volunteer time you've contributed these last few months.  You have all made it possible for me to tackle other projects and even work on myself a bit as well as provide an outstanding fitness and nutrition program for our campers.

I'd also like to welcome Becca to our instructor team!  She will be shadowing for the month of July and will complete her instructor training as soon as possible! She's sweet and a little quiet at the time being, but very confident and has legs to die for!  Bio coming soon!

To our loyal campers..... Operation Boot Camp Gwinnett would not be successful without you!  Please keep spreading the word and please keep coming back!  We've got 2 more days of preview workouts, so pass the word to those that may have expressed an interest.

We are excited to see a new camper among our vets this morning at our 6:30 a.m. trial time!  Jeff is the husband of our vet camper Kelli.  We enjoy our vets and working out with those that are experienced in the way we work, but there's nothing like introducing a newbie to our program.  So much happens within the first couple of workouts and it's a joy to watch.  Jeff, it's a pleasure having you with us!  Great job this morning.  We're looking forward to working out with you again.

Okay, what's new in the world of Boot Camp?

We've added some new moves to our warm up for a little variety.   Understanding the importance of incorporating both cardiovascular and strength training to each of our workouts is priority.  When we're running, we're running with purpose. Heart rate is elevated and blood pumping.  Just when we think we've have had enough it's time to slow it down a bit and concentrate intense muscle burn.  My prediction? More green, red and blue in our near future!

We've also added an optional nutrition and measurement day.  This is a great question and answer opportunity in terms of fielding our camper's most common inquiries.  We also like to see the actual numbers pertaining to the inches lost over the course of a full camp.  The numbers simply solidify for us the results achieved after working hard and eating well.  Proof in the non fat pudding so to speak!

My favorite exercise from camp?  Inch worms and burpees.  I like inch worms and cringe at the thought of burpees, but man!  Talk about a full body exercise!  Do you have a favorite?  We would like to know....post in the comment section at the bottom of this page.
