Weight for US! A Conversation on Healthy Body Weight

Did you make New Year’s resolutions this year?  Was one of them to eat healthier?  How about exercise more?  Maybe you even resolved to lose weight.  It’s almost the end of January.  How are you doing with your resolutions?

The Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale County Health Departments would like to invite you to enter into a conversation with us and our community.  We have developed a website designed to prime your thinking and initiate a conversation around several topics:

  • Individual behaviors related to food choices and eating patterns
  • Individual behaviors related to our level of physical activity
  • Policies we follow within our schools, workplaces, community organizations and even our homes
  • What there is now - or what can be - in our environments to support us in maintaining a healthy body weight

Each month we will introduce an idea and a few links. Our goal is to stimulate a “community conversation” where you share what you are doing to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

For example, do you know of a community garden or farmer’s market near your neighborhood? What areas are safe and inviting for you to be active? How do you incorporate physical activity into your day? What are you doing to make healthier food choices?

We hope that you not only read what is presented, but that you also join in the community conversation. You may share an idea or adopt an idea that makes a major change in your health, the health of your neighbor, and the health of your community.

Become part of the conversation!
