Got Wine? Wine and Food Pairings for Your Holiday Meals and Festivities!

Ideas for wine pairings for Holiday meals and festivities. Fun with wine!

GOT WINE?

I have pondered about which direction I should take this article and as I rolled my selves up it came to me: Why do I love wine?  Wine is extremely fascinating, intriguing, and educational but the one thing that brings the wonderful world of wine together is the food and family that you enjoy wine with!  With the holidays on our door step what better to talk about than the food and wine that brings us together. I will offer wine pairings for that perfect holiday dinner while keeping that holiday budget in mind.

First, as family and friends arrive what would be better than light appetizer and a glass of bubbles?  Veuve de Vernay Rose ($8.99) is a sparkling wine from France that has a beautiful salmon hue color.  This bone dry sparkling has hints of fresh cherry and raspberries while finishing clean and crisp.  The perfect wine to get your taste buds going.

Second, as you pile your plate high with a wide range of foods you need to have a wine that is versatile with such an assortment.  Lockwood Estate Chardonnay ($11.99) is a wonderfully balanced Chardonnay from Monterey California.  Hints of apples wrapped around spices tied together with a toasty finish this would pair well with just about anything.  If that toasty oak is not your style, Toad Hollow unoaked Chardonnay ($14.99) is a great expression of Chardonnay.  All the fruit characteristics of a Chardonnay with a clean crisp finish.  A Chardonnay master piece by Todd Williams (the older brother of Robin Williams).  Shifting gears to red, B & G Bistro Pinot Noir ($10.99) is just the wine to bring everything together.  This medium body Pinot Noir has hints of fresh red fruit with a finish that lingers.

Third, and my favorite, dessert!  If you are having chocolate a nice Ruby Port (Sandeman $12.99) would be perfect.  If you are having pumpkin pie or cheese cake try a Moscato d’Asti (Marco Negri $15.99).  If those sweet sticky delights are not up your alley, do what I enjoy to do and that is rewind to bubbles!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season filled with joy!

Thank you!!! It is so nice to get practical advice when it comes to wine. This is definitely not my area of expertise. I've actually been to the Bottle Shop when traveling to Atlanta on business. You guys do an excellent job...thanks for the article, Heather.
