Is Summer Really Washed Out?

Gosh, it’s been a really wet summer/year in Dacula—over 20 inches so far this year. More rain is forecast, and out in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Erin is moving this way with tropical weather including rain. Erin is still too far away to make any predictions, but the storm is out there.

Of course, for the past several years, excluding this one, we have been dry. So I guess one shouldn’t gripe too much. But I am tired of the rain and the need/requirement of cutting the grass every other day. And too much rain causes problems too. We have builders building houses and commercial structures. Rain interferes and delays such construction. Where the ground has been disturbed, erosion is sure to follow, and the City has more work to do controlling that, keeping the grass cut along streets and in parks. Rainy Wednesday and Thursdays affect our sanitation pickup schedule and is uncomfortable for our workers. Crops suffer from too much rain. Melon crops have been decimented and our peach crop wasn’t up to normal in the taste area. Local gardens have been too wet to collect the bounty that the rain has brought.

Beside all that, I’m TIRED of the rain and the WET-WEATHER BLUES.

What do you do to help with the wet-weather blues?
