Red Rover, Red Rover Come on Over

Who's going to own up to shutting down the federal government? Or perhaps a better question might be is the Average American better off with the government shut down or not? Guess that would be from the perspective of a direct effect.

Really, this is all a monstrous game of Tag. Members of the House and the Senate, know that money bills originate in the House. If our elected representatives, who supposedly represent our interests at the federal level, decide not to provide funding, funding isn't there. Hey, its in the Constitution. You might try reading and following it, you swore to do so. Sorry, Mr. President you may not get every thing you want all the time.

So both sides of this argument rely on EGO and intimidation to try to force the "city gates."

This is all about ego and money and power. And the current shut down has nothing to do with governing--especially wise governing. This administration is hung up on ego (this is my bill, this is what I want) not on the good of the American people. This administration doesn't give a fig about your health care. Just listen to their tame Senate leader, "why would we want to do that?" They only want to control the health-care industry and the money that will flow to their cronies and the benefits that will flow to them from the Affordable Care Act.

Who's to blame. It is pretty obvious; the democratic-controlled U. S. Senate and the administration are to blame. Pay no attention to the "Tag, You're It; No, you are It" nonsense  that comes out of Washington and into your home on a daily basis.

Remember Congress has voted themselves a large subsidy/exemption to help pay for their health care. Do you think Congress ought to obey the laws they pass for the rest of us? Not only do we pay them enormous salaries, provide lavish perks, and kowtow to them as if they had any common sense.

What's even worse is that Congress cannot even do the one Constitutional responsibility required of them--to pass an annual budget. If Congress would only do the job we elect them to do and keep their "octopus" hands out of Constitutionally-barred actions and activities, America would not need a stinking "continuing resolution" every year to run the government.

Remember the Democrats in the U. S. Senate when it comes time for you to pay your yearly health insurance premiums, your federal taxes, and when it comes time to give Congress their report cards.
