And the Thunder Rolls...

Severe Weather is possible for Thursday.

As you are already aware, another day of severe weather for the midwest in what seems like an endless string of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail for that area (see image), and that same system is slowly slipping east toward our area.

It looks like late in the day and during the evening hours tomorrow will be our best chance for rain. The models are coming into better agreement on certain severe weather parameters and it appears now that there will be a chance for some severe weather here in Gwinnett.  Models are showing a low-level jet of around 50kts skirting the area during the late afternoon hours and helping generate higher shear values. Because of this, the Storm Prediction Center has placed us in a Slight Risk category for tomorrow (see image).  The biggest threat will be high winds and hail but the possibility will also exist for tornadoes.

We need the rain but not the severe weather, we'll see what tomorrow brings us. It has now been 21 days since I've had measurable rainfall here.
