Cloudy, Wet and Cool Weather Ahead for North Georgia

Much needed rain is coming.

Welcomed rain is on the way for us here in north Georgia later today, tonight, and tomorrow, with the approach of a shortwave. With pressure building down the east side of the Appalachian mountains, one of our normal CAD events will be setting up.

In the cooler times of the year when high pressure areas are to our north or northeast, many times the colder air will be forced down the mountains instead of traveling east to west over them, the cold air is basically blocked and can only go south. And therefore CAD stands for Cold Air Damming. What this means for us today is that our temperatures will remain about 15 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Showers will be building and the heaviest period will be tonight. The NWS has us down for an 80 percent chance of some pretty decent rains.

Pretty stiff wind out of the northeast due to the damming effect, while winds higher up are coming from the southwest. Classic overrunning of the warm air over the cooler air. It will make for a rainy, drizzly, chilly day. Right now no rain around but as the day goes on it will begin increasing.

So what you are saying is that I need to quit what I am doing and get outside and get the leaves blown now before they get all wet.

In 1963 I was 14 and somehow landed a job mowing the lawn and doing other things for a prominentRead More local surgeon who had a 10 acre estate. They had a riding lawn mower and I was game to do anything that involved gas engines! It was a 2 mile bike ride there and I could work whenever I wanted and they paid me 50 cents an hour, so I was bringing home six or seven dollars a WEEK!!!

"There are people in all levels of government office who would like nothing more than to beRead More able to conduct all the public business out of public view" The problem is, who's going to stop them? Certainly--no one from this justice department who is complicit in multiple overreaches and coverups.

I wrote this on another post but it so applies here and is worth repeating: James Madison wrote inRead More the federalist paper (no. 51) concerning the separation of powers and need for limited government , "“ It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government……” We need to have a "Madison moment"...
