Football Weather in Store for Next Weekend

Temperatures will be much cooler over the weekend with some models showing highs almost 30 degrees below normal. Should be a great weekend for football!

Hot and dry for the first half of the week will give way to showers and cooler weather as we approach the weekend.

A strong high pressure remains entrenched over the southeast bringing us the warm days and cool nights that we've had for the last three or four days. This high pressure system will slowly give way to a cold front that will push into our area late Wednesday night into Thursday. This bubble of Canadian high pressure will slide across the northern plains into New England by the weekend leaving the front stalled to our south along the Georgia/Florida border. Temperatures will be much cooler over the weekend with some models showing highs almost 30 degrees below normal (which is about 82 degrees this week). I think this might be a little extreme but I stll wouldn't be surprised to see highs in the upper 50's to lower 60's in our area for a day or two. (See map)

We're still behind on rainfall for the year, and most of Georgia is still in a serious drought condition. We desperately need some tropical rainfall to help erase the deficit and ease the drought. I've included a drought map to give you an idea of the extent of the really bad conditions here in Georgia. Click here for addtional drought maps.
