Localized Heavy Rain Possible

Heavy rain possible on Sunday.

The National Weather Service is expecting heavy rain Sunday over the North Georgia area. Several inches of rain are possible with this next system. The models have been dampening out the system as it gets closer but a very wet day will be in store for almost all of Georgia. Below is an excerpt from the area forecast discussion from the National Weather Service.

BIGGEST IMPACT FROM UPCOMING SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE RAINFALL POTENTIAL. HPC 1-3 DAY QPF TOTAL INDICATES 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS THE NORTHEAST AND GENERALLY LESS THAN AN INCH ACROSS CENTRAL GEORGIA. TREND OVER THE PAST 12 HOURS IS A SLIGHT DECREASE IN QPF AND OUR FORECAST FOLLOWS THIS...WITH AROUND 1.5 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN EXPECTED ACROSS THE NORTH. 6 HR FFG VALUES ARE AROUND 4.5 INCHES ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA AND 5 INCHES ACROSS CENTRAL GEORGIA. WITH EXPECTED RAINFALL SPREAD OVER A FEW DAYS...THINK WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE THESE FORECAST AMOUNTS...BUT WILL HAVE TO WATCH FOR LOCALIZED PROBLEMS ON THE CREEKS AND RIVERS ACROSS THE NORTH.
