I think the tornado bit is overkill.
North Georgia Weather October 1, 2012 at 08:20 pm
I think you are probably right. Really heavy rain falling right nowq though.
North Georgia Weather October 1, 2012 at 08:24 pm
My laptopdied and I hate typing on this tablet. Its been raining at 3-4" hour for the last 15 minutes
Kristi Reed (Editor) October 1, 2012 at 08:28 pm
I just came inside from checking my rain gauge. I already have over 5 inches (see photo).
North Georgia Weather October 1, 2012 at 08:42 pm
Awesome!
I'm sitting on 4.04" in the last 24 hours, 3.11" since midnight, and 1.63" the last hour... and it's still raining pretty good. My Davis weather station console just told me "It's raining cats and dogs." Someone had a sense of humor! :-) I submitted a heavy rain storm report to the NWS just a few minutes ago. That kind of rain is worthy of a report!
Kristi Reed (Editor) October 1, 2012 at 08:52 pm
We just had a torrential downpour here. My gauge is showing above 6 inches now best I can tell. I'm heading out to take a photo and will upload it in just a few.
Kristi Reed (Editor) October 1, 2012 at 08:56 pm
I've had 6.75 inches of rain in the past 24 hours according to my gauge.

STARTING OUT WITH AN ACTIVE AFTERNOON WITH A TORNADO WATCH FOR MUCH
OF THE CWA AND THIS IS THE MAIN STORY FOR THE SHORT TERM. WARM FRONT HAS LIFTED INTO NORTH GEORGIA...NORTH OF THE ATL TO AHN LINE. WEDGE IS WORKING AGAINST THE WARM FRONT TO KEEP IT FROM PUSHING INTO NORTHEST GA AT LEAST FOR NOW. THE MAJORITY OF THE CWA IS IN THE WARM SECTOR WITH DEW POINTS IN THE LOW 70S. IN ADDITION...1500 TO 2000 J/KG OF SB CAPE HAS PUSHED INTO THE ATL AREA WITH AROUND 30KTS OF LOW LEVEL SHEAR ACROSS MUCH OF THE CWA. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTIVE OF ISOLATED TORNADOES AND DAMAGING WIND HOWEVER ITS BEEN SLOW TO DEVELOP TODAY DUE TO THE DEEP MOISTURE THROUGH THE MID LEVELS. ALTHOUGH ISOLATED SVR STORMS ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN THE AREA OF SHOWERS CURRENTLY ACROSS THE CWA...ANOTHER AREA OF CONCERN IS DEVELOPMENT OF STORMS WEST OF THIS LINE.
North Georgia Weather October 1, 2012 at 09:24 pm
You're doing pretty good over there!
North Georgia Weather October 1, 2012 at 09:37 pm
More rain headed our way. The low hasn't moved much further east and the band that brought us the heavy rain is still with us, bringing additional showers and thundershowers our way this evening. Looks like you'd better empty your gauge Kristi! Looks like the next round will put you over the limit!

Just did. We'll see.
Hey - when does the global warming discussion start?
Chris October 1, 2012 at 10:44 pm
"Hey - when does the global warming discussion start?"
It starts with the words VOLCANO and SUN. Don't blame your Grandmother and her Dodge Dart. She and the Dart has nothing to do with Climate Change or whatever it's being scammed as today. The Dodge nor Granny were around thousands of years ago. Perhaps the carbon footprint originated from dinosaur farts. What a SCAM to further the destruction of America. Let's give up our freedom and wealth so Owl Gore can make Millions while the rest of the world utilizes Capitalism. Why not Kim Il Sung 2012?
Dave Ballard October 1, 2012 at 10:45 pm
BAD! Bad, Kristi! Now look what you've done! =D

The latest from the Storm Prediction Center for us:
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md2017.html Best rain we've had in a while. The other day I was going to post something about the rain coming but I remembered what Tommy said about jinxing things so I refrained. Thanks Tommy! :-)

In 1963 I was 14 and somehow landed a job mowing the lawn and doing other things for a prominentRead More local surgeon who had a 10 acre estate. They had a riding lawn mower and I was game to do anything that involved gas engines! It was a 2 mile bike ride there and I could work whenever I wanted and they paid me 50 cents an hour, so I was bringing home six or seven dollars a WEEK!!!
Kristi Reed (Editor) June 18, 2013 at 07:42 am

"There are people in all levels of government office who would like nothing more than to beRead More able to conduct all the public business out of public view" The problem is, who's going to stop them? Certainly--no one from this justice department who is complicit in multiple overreaches and coverups.
Tammy Osier June 12, 2013 at 12:41 pm
I wrote this on another post but it so applies here and is worth repeating: James Madison wrote inRead More the federalist paper (no. 51) concerning the separation of powers and need for limited government , "“ It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government……” We need to have a "Madison moment"...

I remember when I opened up the news to see that Holder was going to investigate Holder. Ha! What'sRead More scary is that there are some who think that's just fine?
