Will it Cool Off?

Will the Memorial Day weekend bring cooler temperatures?

Rain in sight! It appears that we'll start to get a little relief from the heat beginning late Thursday when a cold front moves through the area. Temperatures Friday will remain in the 80s across the state. While the temperatures will be cooler, there will be an increase in moisture ... so in some ways it might not feel cooler. But the moisture will give us a better chance for your afternoon pop-up type thundershowers that we so desperately need.

Terrible situation in Joplin, Mo. This tornado now has a preliminary rating of EF-4 with winds from 190-198 MPH.  The tornado survey is here.  The death toll from this storm makes May 22 the 8th deadliest tornado day on record and the tornado the 9th dealiest ever as well as the deadliest single U.S. tornado in 64 years, since 181 were killed in Woodward, Okla. on Apr. 9, 1947. We have now had two of the top 10 deadliest tornado days in U.S. history this year already.
