Our First Shot of Winter Next Week

The "S" word was spoken...!

It's always nice to get an early start, especially when you're talking about Winter!

For the last several days, we've been watching the computer models and have noticed what appeared to be a major shot of Arctic air plunging south next week. This afternoon the Atlanta office of the National Weather Service, issued their weekly video outlook, and one of the major topics was how we may have a really good shot at our first winter outbreak around midweek.

Instead of me typing and boring you with meteorology details, I'll let the meteorologist from the NWS fill you in. Click here and watch the main video.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the evolution of this system and bring you updates when needed. While it will most likely not be something to write home about, it will only be the 2nd week of November, and this will be a pretty hefty shot of Arctic air for so early in the season.

Also, my meteorologist buddy, Robert Gamble at WXSouth.com, has been talking about this for several days now. If you want the advanced inside scoop, try a month by month signup just to see. Nothing in it for me, but lots of weather info for you!

Saturday AM Update:
Things are looking pretty cold in 5 days. The latest GFS and Euro are depicting some pretty cold temperatures for an extended period of time. According to the Euro, we drop below freezing around 7pm Tuesday night, and I don't see us going  above freezing until the weekend. COLD. New blog post coming up.
