Mr. William “Bill” Manente, age 90, of Dacula, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Bridgette Manente; and sister, Ida Costa. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mrs. Betty Manente of Dacula; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Bob Colarusso of Flowery Branch and son, Nicholas Manente of Boca Raton, Fla. Mr. Manente had four grandchildren: Tracie Colarusso of Dacula, Jennifer Cain of Dacula, Lauren Colarusso of Flowery Branch and Michael Manente of Auburn; six great grandchildren and a nephew, Steven Costa of West Palm Beach, Fla. Mr. Manente was born December 15, 1920 in Bronx, N.Y. He was a retired machinist from Ward Leonard Company and also retired from Glendale Federal Bank in Lighthouse Point, Fla.

Mr. Joe O. Cain, age 80, of Atlanta passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolphus and Susie Spriggs Cain; brothers, Sylvie Cain, Lloyd Cain, Otis Cain, and Lamar Cain; and sister, Mary Ann Miller. He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Nancy Hardy Cain, Atlanta; children, Deborah and Tom Ebbing of Jacksonville, Fla., Deanie and Sonny Alexander of Jacksonville, Fla. and Tim Crane of Atlanta. Mr. Cain had six grandchildren: Brema Ebbing, Nathan Ebbing, Daniel Alexander, Tanner Johnson, Nolan Crane and Camille Crane. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Homer and Sandra Cain of Lawrenceville, Ray and Pat Cain of Dacula and Larry Cain of Lawrenceville; sister, Jeanette Cain Black of Chamblee and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Cain was born October 1, 1930 in Buford. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired electrician from Emory University in Atlanta. He was a member of Old Field Baptist Church a.k.a. Peachtree Road Baptist Church in Suwanee. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Youngblood officiating. Interment followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth with military honors.

Mr. Douglas W. Cotter

Mr. Douglas W. Cotter, age 77, of Braselton passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Wilson Cotter; mother, Julia Lamb Cotter; and brother, Reginald Edwin Cotter. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Elise Wilkins Cotter of Braselton; daughter and son-in-law, Christina Elizabeth Carroll and husband, Jon of Sugar Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas Wayne Cotter, Jr. and wife, Alice of Cumming and Grady Bernard Cotter and wife, Dawn of Dawsonville; grandchildren Christina Elise Carroll, Robert Grady Carroll, Douglas Wayne Cotter, III, Robert Chandler McMahan Cotter, Sarah Elizabeth Carroll, Bailey Denise Cotter and Abigail Ruth Cotter. Mr. Cotter was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Motorola, Inc. after 35 years of service. He coached little league baseball and basketball for eleven years. He was a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula. His children and grandchildren were very special to him. His family was his life. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor David Davis officiating. Interment followed at Randolph Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Ala.

Mrs. Kimberly Sharrett Sapp

Mrs. Kimberley Sharrett Sapp, age 45, of Buford passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father, John Harrigan Sharrett. She is survived by her husband of ten years, Glenn R. Sapp of Buford; mother, Doris Clark Sharrett of Buford; sisters and brother-in-law, Katherine Smith of Nashville, Tenn., Klarice and Robert Carlisle of Buford and Krystal Bowman of Kingsport, Tenn.; uncle Owen Clark of Lancaster, Ohio; aunt Betty Chole Bolling of Wise, Va.; step-children Joann Sapp of Danville, Ohio, Jill Sapp of Buford, Robin Sapp of Arkansas and Jason Sapp of Dacula; niece Ashley Carlisle and nephew Johanton Carlisle. Mrs. Sapp was born December 9, 1965 in Norton, VA. She was a 1984 graduate of Appalachia High School in Appalachia, Va. She was a material handler for Schering Plough in Suwanee and was a former employee of N.C.R. in Duluth. She was a member of Appalachia United Methodist Church in Appalachia, Va. Graveside service were held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Va.
