A listing of recent Dacula area death notices.

Mr. Bennie Lee Adams, age 83, of Buford, passed away on Sunday, July 10, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Muriel Adams; brothers, William Adams, Jr. and Eugene Adams; and sisters, Rena Adams West, Vivian Adams McDougal and Sara Adams.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Coffer Adams of Buford; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Tony Jenkins of Norcross and Melissa Adams Stephens of Duluth; son Bennie Adams II of Buford; grandson Nicholas Anthony Jenkins of Norcross; great grandso, Jacob Anthony Jenkins of Cedartown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joann and Brady Sargent of Buford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Adams was born February 24, 1928 in Hancock County, GA. He was a 1955 graduate of Dacula High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving with the Military Police during World War II. He was retired from Our Way Corporation in Stone Mountain. He was a faithful member of West Buford Baptist Church in Buford.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Bennett and Rev. Mike Hosch officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Unihealth PAC-Lanier and Compassionate Hospice of North Georgia for their gracious care and concern for our precious loved one for the past several years.

Dorothy (Dottie) K. Mayer, passed away on July 9, 2011. She was 77 years old. Dorothy was born on June 22, 1934 in Gary, Indiana. She married Ernest J. Mayer Sr. in 1961 and started their family in Gary. They later moved to Merrillville, Indiana and lived there for over 30 years. They were happily married for 38 years.

Dorothy relocated to Dacula after the passing of her husband Ernest Sr. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family members. Dorothy enjoyed pets of all sorts, dancing and gardening, especially tending to her roses. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch and a former member of Our Lady of Consolation Church of Merrillville, Ind.

Dorothy is survived by her three children: Ernest (Kirstain) Mayer Jr. of Dacula, Anthony Mayer of Flowery Branch and Cindy (Mayer) Skip Kalmar of Windsor, Colo.; five grandchildren: Nichole (Mayer) McKinney, Christopher Mayer, Stephen Mayer, Kaitlyn Kalmar and Kyle Kalmar and one great- grandchild, Evan McKinney. She is proceeded in death by husband Ernest J. Mayer Sr., brother Jerome Bielewicz and parents Jerome and Anastazya Bielewicz.

Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, July 14 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Rd. SW, Lawrenceville.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Glen Park, Ind. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Catholic Charities or Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd. NE. Ste. 10, Atlanta, Ga. 30345.

Robert Woods Turner

Robert Woods Turner, age 86, of Dacula passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Turner was born in Athens, Georgia. He was a member of Waleska Baptist Church. He attended North College, following his service as First Lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II and the Korean Wars. Scripto Corporation employed Mr. Turner in the Research and Development Division and he retired from Dettlebach Corporation.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ms. Mattie Heard Turner; son Robert James Turner of Marietta; daughter Betsy Farmer of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren: Matthew Farmer, Sarah Farmer, Merry Turner and Bobbie Lynne Powell; two great-grandchildren: Kaylee Alayna Powell and Faith Megan Powell; three sisters, Eloise Tyler, Irene Morrow and Betty Eppinger and numerous nieces and nephews.
