Akin was known affectionately as "Queen Cathy" by many of her friends, and enjoyed playing her favorite card game with the "Tripoley Group": Janice Buchheit, Christina Downum, Sheila Fowler, Teri Jackson, Susan Lee and Tracie Satterfield. Akin was known as a consummate practical joker and loved to see the results of her work played out on her many victims. Akin's quirkiness, personality and heart showed in her love for people, her dedication to her family and her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To meet Cathy one time meant that you would remember her for a lifetime. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7, in the chapel of Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with Rev. Jeff Gray officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd Center, Atlanta, Ga. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wagesandsons.com.
