Funeral Services Set for Lifelong Member of Appalachee Baptist Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Peevy Parks set for Thursday.

Mrs. Opal Peevy Parks, age 82, of Hoschton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Mrs. Parks was born Aug. 12, 1929 in Lawrenceville. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of Appalachee Baptist Church in Auburn. She enjoyed traveling and being with her friends and family.

Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Parks; son, Jack W. Parks; parents, Olin and Lois Peevy; brother, Rev. Robert Peevy; sisters, Dorothy Reynolds, Sue Griffin and Barbara Emerson.Β  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Parks of Buford; daughter-in-law, Connie Parks of Hoschton; grandchildren, Amy and Josh Fulmer of Ft. Benning, Stephen Parks of New York, N.Y., Jamey and Shannon Parks and Tammy Parks of Flowery Branch; great-grandchildren: Avery Fulmer, Gregory and Anna Moore and Wesley and Abby Parks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Holland Burnett of Lawrenceville and Gwen and Jack Leach of Commerce; sisters-in-law, Ruth Chatham Peevy of Hoschton, Gussie Cooper of Fayetteville and Ada Parks of Buford; brother-in-law, J. W. Griffin of Buford; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved friend and caregiver, Barbara Higgins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Ash and Rev. Harry Brogdon officiating. Interment will follow at Appalachee Baptist Church Cemetery in Auburn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m.
