Christmas Songs: My Top 10

From religious to humorous, there are some classics. What are yours?

Christmas music has been with us for weeks and will soon be gone. So time for discussion.

The Jury Of One, aka Suwanee Patch editor Steve Burns, has decided to list his 10 favorite Christmas songs. They don't have to be religious, just something that connotes the season -- weather, family, the spirit of humanity, etc.

So here's is the list, with a couple of videos attached. You guessed it -- we want to know yours, too. Tell us in the comments.

10. "Mele Kalikimaka," Bing Crosby. A traditional voice gives a Hawaiian spin to Christmas. (Search YouTube if you're unfamiliar.)

9. "Blue Christmas," Elvis Presley. Any top 10 musical list needs to include one by the King, and this is one of his best known songs in general.

8. "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," Bruce Springsteen version. For a guy whose trademark style is raw power, this is very enjoyable. The late Clarence Clemons provides a good interlude.

7. "Silent Night." Speaks for itself.

6. "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer." A true classic, and shows that irrerevence has a home everywhere. "You say there's no such thing as Santa, but as for me and Grandpa, we believe."

5. "Sleigh Ride." A great instrumental. As a high schooler in DeKalb County, I remember our school band once got a standing "O" for a spirited version of this tune.

4. "Winter Wonderland." Bouncy and fun.

3. "Step Into Christmas," Elton John. Very up-tempo and timeless.

2. "Little Drummer Boy." Tugs at the heart. "I am a poor boy too ..."

1. "White Christmas," Bing Crosby. Nothing else comes close.

Fun. I polled my daughter for her top three: 1. Christmas Baby Come Home by Mariah Carey 2. Mistletoe by Justin Bieber 3. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

A Bieber mention -- no surprise. :)
