Around the Region: Two Charged With Dunwoody Murder, Teen Thief Caught After Using Stolen Police Radio and Parolee Arrested for Multiple Burglaries

Dunwoody Police have arrested a 30-year-old College Park man and a 33-year-old Norcross man in the killing of Ivan Perez.

Police arrested Kevin Stallworth for allegedly shooting Perez outside of his Dunwoody apartment just before 4 p.m. Monday. He was arrested on a charges of Felony Murder. Police also arrested Antiwan Lane out of Norcross, who has been charged with Murder for Hire, also a felony.

Perez was shot multiple times outside of his apartment building at The Pointe at Perimeter. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It had been thought that Perez might have known his shooter, as the . Police now say it was likely a case of mistaken identity.

– Douglasville Patch

A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody by the on Dec. 28 for illegally entering vehicles. According to Sheriff Phil Miller, the teen broke into the civilian vehicle of a Douglas County deputy and stole a portable police radio. The teen was caught after he used the radio several times to transmit over the police radio system, reporting false information.

Once the Sheriff's department found out the false reports were being made, the sheriff said the department went into action by contacting FCC officials in Atlanta who then brought tracking devices to the area.

"We got the FCC out here to narrow down what neighborhood the radio calls were coming from," Miller said. "Deputies then knocked on doors in the area and talked to residents. As a result, we identified the bad guy and got the radio."

 

– Marietta Patch

believe they have cracked a residential burglary spree with the arrest of a Riverdale man on parole for burglary.

Police arrested Moises Sanchez Jr., 28, about 1:30 p.m. Friday at a hotel within walking distance of the neighborhood where the string of home burglaries occurred in the past week, police spokesman Detective Christopher Lindsey said in a Dec. 31 press release. A search of Sanchez’s hotel room turned up many items stolen in the burglaries, including electronics, jewelry, rare coins, luggage, clothes and a bicycle, Lindsey said.

Sanchez was paroled Aug. 3 after serving more than 3½ years in prison for burglary and other offenses committed in Brantley, Ware and Chatham counties, Georgia Department of Corrections records show. He previously served 15 months in prison in 2006 and 2007.

His parole was due to run through Nov. 12, 2012, according to the state Board of Paroles and Pardons.

He is being held without bail in the on a single felony count of burglary, but police said more charges are likely as stolen property is identified and connected to burglaries.
