AT&T Store Burglarized, Front Door Smashed

Safe damaged, but not breached.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating a Feb. 20 burglary that tool place at the .

An officer was conducting a traffic stop on Hamilton Mill Road near Braselton Highway when a concerned citizen approached and advised the front window of the AT&T store had been smashed.

The officer and other units responded to the scene and discovered damage throughout the store. According to the police report, the thief or thieves had not only smashed the front door, but also a pane of privacy glass separating the store from an office. A safe inside the office was damaged and a door leading to the rear of the building had been kicked open.

The officer discovered muddy boot prints as well as a large rock that had apparently been used to smash the window and door. Crime scene technicians were called to the scene to gather evidence.

Almost two hours after the officer first arrived at the scene, an AT&T employee arrived at the store. The employee advised all the phones and cash were secured inside the safe and nothing appeared to be missing from the store.

The store was not equipped with video surveillance.
