Body of Missing Teen Found at Lake Lanier

Crews recover the body of Griffin Prince nine days after he went missing as a result of a late night boat collision.

An extensive search for a teen missing since a June 18 boating collision has come to an end.

The Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced Wednesday evening that the body of Griffin Prince was found submerged in over 100 feet of water at Lake Lanier. Griffin and his 9-year-old brother Jake were killed when the . Bennett was subsequently .

“The first priority was closure for the family,” DNR Maj. Stephen Adams said in a released statement. "Now we can focus solely on the boating incident investigation.”

The DNR's Wildlife Resources Division’s Critical Incident Reconstruction Team and the Hall County District Attorney's Office are participating in the investigation.

According to a press release from the DNR, divers recovered the body at approximately 6 p.m. on June 27 in the Shoal Creek area of southern Lake Lanier.

Divers and other personnel from agencies including Hall, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Cobb counties, the FBI, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Georgia State Patrol participated in the recovery effort.
