Inside the police reports: A regular closer look at Gwinnett Police incident reports in the Dacula area.

An anonymous tip probably ended up being a buzz-kill for those responsible for some marijuana being grown in the woods near Auburn.

Gwinnett Police responded to a June 10 report of a marijuana plant being grown just inside the wood line near the intersection of Rock Elm Drive and Rock Elm Court.

“He said look for a white bucket three feet off the roadway and to follow a defined trail 20 feet into the woods,” the anonymous tipster reported, according to the incident report. “There would be a picnic table with a marijuana plant growing in a planter bucket.”

That’s basically what police found in a wooded lot on Rock Elm Drive. The officer saw the white bucket and followed a narrow path into the woods to an open area with two small white plastic tables and three chairs. Two boxes of empty beer cans and a bag of potting soil also were found.

The marijuana plant, which was planted in the ground in a black flower pot, was taken as evidence. There was no identifiable information left at the scene.
