Chateau Elan House Fire Possibly Caused by Lightning

No injuries reported in Tuesday evening blaze.

Fire officials have yet to determine if a July 5 house fire in Chateau Elan was caused by a lightning strike.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge said heavy fire was showing from a home in the 2400 block of Legacy Maple Drive in Braselton when crews arrived.

“I haven't been able to confirm it as a lightning strike at this point,” Rutledge said in a released statement.

Gwinnett and Hall County units battled the blaze. No injuries were reported.

According to Rutledge, Gwinnett firefighters responded to several reports of possible lightning strikes Tuesday evening.

“Firefighters found evidence of damage due to lightning, but no working fires,” Rutledge said.
