Dacula Gas Station Burglary Was Not Only Incident

Another gas station a few miles away was also burglarized on Oct. 8.

The Oct. 8 burglary of the Kwick Check BP on Harbins Road in Dacula was not the only gas station burglary to occur that day.

In the Kwick Check burglary, two males were captured on video entering the store and taking two cash drawers and a change box. According to the police report, the back door had a single mark on it that appeared to have been made by a sledgehammer. The wires to the alarm system had also been cut. The incident happened at approximately 4:15 a.m.

A similar incident occurred during the overnight hours less than four miles away at the Shell gas station located at 1205 Winder Highway. Police were called to the gas station shortly after 6 a.m. when an employee of the business arrived at work and discovered the inside of the store was in disarray.

In the incident report, the officer noted the ATM had been damaged as if someone had tried unsuccessfully to open it. Packs of Newport cigarettes were scattered across the floor, the manager's office had been entered and, according to the report, it appeared as if someone had attempted to knock the audible alarm off the wall.

"The door leading into the back room was damaged. The damage was consistent with sledgehammer marks," the officer wrote in the report.

The officer further noticed the rear door of the business had also apparently been struck with a sledgehammer and the wires for the alarm system that were contained in a box on the back of the business had been removed. The main power cord was also cut.

The store employee advised that two cash drawers, each containing between $7,000-$9,000, had been taken along with the computer for the video camera.

The case is listed as active.
