Dacula Home Damaged by Fire

No one injured in Friday morning fire.

A Mitford Court home sustained extensive damage as a result of a mid-morning fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the Dacula residence just after 10 a.m.

According to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Lt. Eric Eberly, a neighbor noticed the fire and called 911.

"Crews arrived on the scene to find a two story residence with heavy fire showing from the rear and right hand side of the residence," Eberly said.

Eberly said no one was injured in the blaze, but the home was heavily damaged.

"The whole second floor has extensive damage and the attic is fully destroyed," Eberly said. The first floor sustained smoke and water damage.

By 11 a.m., the fire was under control and crews began working to protect and salvage contents of the home. Eberly said the homeowner was at work at the time of the incident, but has been notified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews from stations 15, , and 20 responded.
