Dacula Home Sustains 'Heavy Structural Damage' in Early Morning Fire

No injuries were reported.

A Dacula home sustained extensive damage in a Friday morning fire.

The fire was reported at around 5 a.m. on Jan. 17 by a 911 caller who advised flames could be seen coming from the house. When Gwinnett County firefighters arrived at the Stanley Road home at 5:08 a.m., heavy smoke and flames were showing from the single-story, wood-framed ranch.

"An aggressive exterior fire attack was started with heavy water streams and hose lines used from the engines on the scene," Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Lt. Colin S. Rhoden said in a released statement. "Crews were given initial information that the house was vacant and the homeowner arrived to the scene."

After extinguishing the bulk of the fire, crews entered the residence to put out the fires that could not be reached from outside the home. The blaze caused heavy structural damage, Rhoden added.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
