Dacula Man Charged with Child Molestation

Boy told police he was accosted at bus stop.

A Dacula man is facing a charge of child molestation after allegedly accosting a 14-year-old Lawrenceville boy.

The victim told police he was waiting for the school bus to arrive on the morning of Feb. 28 when the suspect, identified as Ioanis Psorros, 71, of 1695 River Park Drive in Dacula, approached him.

The victim said he and Psorros began talking and Psorros asked the teen if he had a girlfriend. When the teen said he did, Psorros reportedly asked if seeing girls aroused him. According to the police report, Psorros then asked to see the boy’s genitalia. The boy refused and walked away. The boy told police Psorros swore at him as he walked towards his home.

An officer responding to the call spotted Psorros in the area. In the report, the officer wrote that Psorros “Looked at me and put his head down and turned his back to me. The man was clearly trying to avoid me as he began walking towards the wood line away from the roadway.”

The officer detained Psorros until the victim and the victim’s father arrived at the scene. The victim, who the officer described as “distraught and clearly upset,” quickly identified Psorros as the perpetrator.

Psorros initially admitting speaking with the boy, but later changed his story. When told he was being placed under arrest, Psorros reportedly became defensive and raised his voice to the officer.

Psorros was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly listed the suspect's address as Park Drive instead of River Park Drive. We apologize for the error.

Thank you Patch for keeping us informed about the good and the bad in our community. You are timely, truthful, and trusted. Keep us posted on this threat to our community. Is this address in Evergreen?

Hi Cynthia, Thanks for the kind words. As for the address, I do not believe it is in Evergreen. Kristi

This is in the Riversprings subdivision. This man walks up and down Ewing Chapel Road on a regular basis and more than once we have seen him urinating in public on the side of the road. He has never made any attempt to shield himself from cars driving by. Now I wonder if he was urinating or just exposing himself. My husband and I have discussed calling the police before and now I wish we had. I can assure you that I will call next time I see it. Thank you for providing the details on this incident. I've checked in constantly since I saw his mugshot to find out the circumstances of his arrest.

I checked it is in the neighborhood across from the elementary school on Hwy324, scary! It was Windsong, a great community with long winding roads. They have a good HOA so they should get the word out for their homeowners with children that don't yet know about the PATCH!!!

Where is the Riversprings Community? It came up at Windsong. There may be a street name close in both communities. There are 6 sexual offenders out near Luke Edwards Road, as a realtor, I always check for my client when they are looking into a area. You can get notifications from the FBI sexual offenders website sent to you each month. Once again that you Patch for suppling area residents with timely and important information.

The address in this article is incorrect. It should read 1695 River Park Drive, Dacula 30019. I know who this man is and where he lives. He lives in Riversprings subdivision off Ewing Chapel Road. Sadly, there is an elementary school on Ewing Chapel Rd. and he usually takes his walks in the morning while all the children are out waiting for their school buses.

You are correct - it is River Park Drive. I apologize for the error. Cynthia, the incident did not occur in Windsong.

You can go to gwinnett county courts website and on the front page there is a place to do a party search. Put in his last name which will pull up the case information and you'll see the correct address. Hopefully, the patch will correct this so people in the area know to be concerned. You can also go to the Gwinnett county tax commissioners website and do a property search by last name and you'll see the correct address. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I have had concerns about this man for some time. He just does not seem "right". I was so shocked to see this and desperately want people in my area to be informed. So scary to see this.

Thanks for the correction, I believe in better safe than sorry. Get the word out or some child in the area may not be wise enough to get away like this child was.

If he is a registered sexual offender , the GA states he may not live within so many yards of a school bus stop for just such reasons. If he is you can report him to his probation officer and something may be able to be done. It is a good thing you have your eye on him. Children are under such attacks now days. Get the word out.

Thanks Cynthia. I knew there were laws regarding how close to a school a sex offender could live, but didn't realize that bus stops were an issue. I'll definately monitor this as it progresses.

I beg anyone who has been a witness to this man urinating, exposing himself or walking while our kids are waiting for the bus to call the Gwinnett County DA's office and become involved. I know some of you wish you had already called but it is not too late!!!! Don't make this 14 year old stand alone when you can help. With out testimony he may be back out on the street before you know it. Now is the time to get involved!!!
Cynthia Montgomery March 10, 2011 at 06:38 PM
Thank you Terri for getting involved. The only thing that has to happen for evil to flourish is for good men and women to do nothing. I am sure this young man is not the first chid he has shown interest in. I might suggest an afternoon walk to speak with your neighbors about his behavior. A comment like, "Would you be offended if I gave the DA office your phone number so he may contact you about what you have seen? may produce neighbors willing to be contacted. Obviously this man has the opinion that your neighborhood is an EASY place to enjoy is perversions. Keep us posted. WAKE UP DACULA and take back your neighborhood.

I live off of Ewing Chapel Rd. This is very disturbing... Was he a registered sex offender? I would like to know... We should all watch out for this man in our neighborhoods as well as any perverts like him.. Completely disgusted
Terri March 17, 2011 at 09:05 PM
Just an update. I checked the docket listing today for gwinnett county and this man is still in jail. Kristen to let you know he was not listed as a sex offender. They court did issue you him bond but he has not been able to make it out yet. Yeah.
Kristin Ball March 18, 2011 at 04:15 PM
I hope the 14 year old and his family press charges and make him a registered sex offender. And hopefully he will be forced to move away from Alcova Elementary
Cynthia Montgomery March 18, 2011 at 04:33 PM
It is SO IMPORTANT to press charges and see it through. There was a punk in my old neighborhood that was molesting children, boys and girls, and no one told. Finally a family did take him to court, he was convicted but he was a minor so no public record. After that 5 different families began to tell their personal stories about how he had hurt their children. I just wonder why the FIRST TIME he molested did that family not report it so the other 5 families could have been spared the emotional pain that he brought to the entire community. He married young and last I saw him he had a little girl, pray for that child. Encourage the young man to work though the system, it will be healing for him and possibly stop others from being harmed by this sick pervert.
