Dacula Man Charged with Child Molestation

Boy told police he was accosted at bus stop.

A Dacula man is facing a charge of child molestation after allegedly accosting a 14-year-old Lawrenceville boy.

The victim told police he was waiting for the school bus to arrive on the morning of Feb. 28 when the suspect, identified as Ioanis Psorros, 71, of 1695 River Park Drive in Dacula, approached him.

The victim said he and Psorros began talking and Psorros asked the teen if he had a girlfriend. When the teen said he did, Psorros reportedly asked if seeing girls aroused him. According to the police report, Psorros then asked to see the boy’s genitalia. The boy refused and walked away. The boy told police Psorros swore at him as he walked towards his home.

An officer responding to the call spotted Psorros in the area. In the report, the officer wrote that Psorros “Looked at me and put his head down and turned his back to me. The man was clearly trying to avoid me as he began walking towards the wood line away from the roadway.”

The officer detained Psorros until the victim and the victim’s father arrived at the scene. The victim, who the officer described as “distraught and clearly upset,” quickly identified Psorros as the perpetrator.

Psorros initially admitting speaking with the boy, but later changed his story. When told he was being placed under arrest, Psorros reportedly became defensive and raised his voice to the officer.

Psorros was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly listed the suspect's address as Park Drive instead of River Park Drive. We apologize for the error.

Thank you Terri for getting involved. The only thing that has to happen for evil to flourish is for good men and women to do nothing. I am sure this young man is not the first chid he has shown interest in. I might suggest an afternoon walk to speak with your neighbors about his behavior. A comment like, "Would you be offended if I gave the DA office your phone number so he may contact you about what you have seen? may produce neighbors willing to be contacted. Obviously this man has the opinion that your neighborhood is an EASY place to enjoy is perversions. Keep us posted. WAKE UP DACULA and take back your neighborhood.

I live off of Ewing Chapel Rd. This is very disturbing... Was he a registered sex offender? I would like to know... We should all watch out for this man in our neighborhoods as well as any perverts like him.. Completely disgusted

I hope the 14 year old and his family press charges and make him a registered sex offender. And hopefully he will be forced to move away from Alcova Elementary

It is SO IMPORTANT to press charges and see it through. There was a punk in my old neighborhood that was molesting children, boys and girls, and no one told. Finally a family did take him to court, he was convicted but he was a minor so no public record. After that 5 different families began to tell their personal stories about how he had hurt their children. I just wonder why the FIRST TIME he molested did that family not report it so the other 5 families could have been spared the emotional pain that he brought to the entire community. He married young and last I saw him he had a little girl, pray for that child. Encourage the young man to work though the system, it will be healing for him and possibly stop others from being harmed by this sick pervert.
