Dacula Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident, Body Found Days After Crash

Fatal crash occurred on Mount Moriah Road in unincorporated Auburn.

Gwinnett County Police are currently investigating a fatal accident that claimed the life of a Dacula man.

According to accident investigators,Β James Etheridge, 39, was riding his motorcycle east on Mount Moriah Road between Clack Road and Highland Point Drive when he failed to successfully negotiate a curve in the road and struck a guardrail.

Etheridge continued down an embankment and struck several small trees. Etheridge died at the scene. Police believe Etheridge had been dead for several days before his body was discovered Thursday evening.

"Both driver and motorcycle were not visible from the roadway," said GCPD public information officer Cpl. Ed Ritter in a released statement.

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, Ritter added.

The accident remains under investigation.

The accident is the second motorcycle fatality on Mount Moriah Road in the past year. In March of 2011, when his motorcycle left the roadway and went into a ditch. Sewell was ejected from the motorcycle after striking a culvert. He later died of his injuries.
