Fake Designer Purses and Polo Shirts Lead to Arrest

An enterprising South Carolina man failed to net the profit he expected after police seized his recently purchased merchandise and placed him in jail.

Adrian Kiser, 35, of Rock Hill, S.C., was traveling northbound on I-85 in a white Lexus on June 24 when a Gwinnett County Police officer noticed the tag on the vehicle was partially obscured by a license plate trim piece. The officer pulled Kiser over and explained the reason for the stop. Kiser did not have his license with him, but provided the officer with his name and date of birth.

Another officer arrived at the scene and began questioning Kiser and his passenger. The second officer asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. During the search, the officer found four plastic bags containing purses with Coach, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and other designer labels. The officer also found six shirts labeled as Polos. Suspecting the purses and shirts were counterfeit, the two officers questioned Kiser about the merchandise. Kiser initially said the items were for his wife, but later admitted that he had bought them for the purpose of reselling them for a profit in South Carolina.

Kiser was charged with possession of counterfeit or forged merchandise and driving without his license in possession. He was released the following day on a $5,700 bond.
