Fire Damages Shed Behind Fernando’s

Passerby calls fire department after seeing heavy smoke.

A utility shed behind was damaged by fire this morning.

According to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge, a passerby reported seeing heavy smoke behind the Fernando’s strip mall shortly after 6 a.m.

Crews found a utility shed on fire with heavy smoke and flames visible.

“Firefighters were able to deploy attack lines and quickly brought the blaze under control,” Rutledge said in a released statement. “Crews made entry into the restaurant and found no extension inside the business.”

No one was at the business at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but may have originated near a clothes dryer inside the shed, Rutledge said.
