Dacula Family Escapes House Fire Safely with Pets

The Tuesday morning blaze heavily damaged a home on Wilding Green Lane.

A Dacula family has been displaced after a fire Tuesday, July 23, heavily damaged their home in the 2700 block of Wilding Green Lane.

Gwinnett County Firefighters arrived within four minutes of receiving the 9:50 a.m. call of a living room fire and report of electrical sparking from an outlet.

Two adults and two children who were at home at the time were able to escape unharmed with their pets, according to a news release.

Firefighters were faced with high heat and fire on the first floor of the two-story single family home and made progress extinguishing the fire, but crews were called out of the house as the heat and fire advanced to the upper floor and consumed the back left room.

Using a ladder truck, firefighters knocked down the bulk of the fire, according to officials, and fire attack hose lines were deployed to protect the exposed homes around the blaze. Crews then re-entered the home to search for and extinguish hot-spots.

The house was heavily damaged by fire and heat, according to the release, and vinyl siding on a neighboring house was also reportedly damaged by radiant heat.
