Firefighters Collect Over $50,000 During Boot Drive

Funds donated to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Last month, more than 100 fire departments across the state participated in the 21st Annual “Give Burns the Boot” boot drive. During the drive, Gwinnett County firefighters collected a total of $52,158 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Donations are used to help citizens and firefighters who have suffered a severe burn injury. Ten percent of the proceeds are returned to the department in the form of smoke alarms and educational materials used to support fire and life safety programs within the community.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Bill Myers expressed his thanks to those who participated in the boot drive.
