The man wanted for a November shooting in Lawrenceville that left a man disfigured has been arrested, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Alejandro Javier Velasquez had been on the run since Nov. 19, when he allegedly shot Bobby Desmond King in the back of the head during a drug robbery, according to the arrest warrants.
Velasquez, 23, has warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery by disfiguring, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and participation in criminal gang activity.
He is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail.
The sheriff’s office reported in an emailed press release that officers with the sheriff’s office and U.S. Marshals SE Regional Task Force arrested Velasquez Wednesday afternoon at a residence on Herndon Road in Lawrenceville.
The task force received information that Velasquez was at the location. He was hiding in the attic when officers arrived, but was taken into custody without incident.
