GCPD Investigating Two Dacula Rapes

Victims in both cases are teenagers.

The is investigating two rapes that occurred in the Dacula area during the past two months.

The first incident, which took place on Feb. 22, was not reported until March 17. The teenage victim told investigators she had not reported the incident earlier because she felt ashamed and embarrassed. According to the police report, the teen waited a week before telling a friend what had transpired. Her friend then encouraged her to report the incident to authorities.

The teen said the incident occurred in a wooded area near Apalachee Heritage subdivision. The victim said she was walking along the nature trails when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her around her neck and threw her to the ground. The teen said she failed to notice the man approaching because she was listening to music through her earbuds.

The teen said she screamed and struggled to escape, but was unable to break free. According to the teen, her attacker held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her if she told anyone of the attack.

The teen described her assailant as a “very large” black male, 40 to 50 years of age, with medium complexion. The victim said the male was approximately 6-foot-2 and weighed 250-300 pounds. According to the victim, the male had graying, well-groomed hair. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a brown “puffy” jacket and black cargo pants.

The case is listed as active.

The second rape was reported on March 18. The victim, a teenager from Loganville, said she was raped at a party on La Maison Drive in Dacula on the evening of March 17.

The victim said she and three other people were drinking vodka at the party when she became intoxicated. The victim believes she passed out in the bathroom around 11 p.m. According to the victim, she awoke to find one of the males on top of her. Another male entered the room, rescued the victim and reportedly beat the attacker.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately six feet tall, who the victim knows only as "Warren."

The case remains under investigation.
