Grinch Strikes Cars in Dacula Subdivision

Pink Nintendo DS, Hello Kitty charger among items taken.

The holiday season got a little more merry and bright for a thief or thieves who succeeded in stealing several items from unlocked cars in a Dacula subdivision.

Two car break-ins were reported in Apalachee Heritage on Nov. 30. In the first, a man visiting from North Carolina said his GPS unit was stolen out of his 2006 Ford Expedition. The GPS, valued at $100, had been left in plain sight on his dashboard.

In the second case, a woman said she looked outside her home and noticed the running boards on her 2014 Ford Expedition were down as if someone had opened the door. The woman went outside to check on the unlocked vehicle and discovered her daughter's pink Nintendo DS and its Hello Kitty charger were missing. An iPod touch and headphones had also been stolen.

Both cases are listed as active.

Several cars were also broken into in Hamilton Mill during the overnight hours of Dec. 4. Two of the reported incidents occurred on Ridgemill Circle, one on Lake Heights Circle. Items including cash, a Leap pad and an iPod Touch were reported stolen. The doors were unlocked in all three cases.

According to GCPD public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith, two more vehicles were also broken into in Hamilton Mill during the same time period, but nothing was taken and no police reports filed in those instances.
