A robbery suspect was shot and killed by a Gwinnett Police officer Monday morning around 9 a.m.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Ed Ritter said the shooting occurred at a Wells Fargo bank branch at 3066 Lawrenceville Highway in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

"The first responding officer arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect were a shooting took place between the officer and the robbery suspect. The robbery suspect was shot by the officer and apparently died on scene," Ritter said in a news release.

The officer suffered an unspecified injury, but was expected to be OK.
