Dacula Teen Questioned Regarding Alleged Armed Encounter at Bogan Park

A Buford man said a teenaged male, who was traveling in a vehicle with the Dacula teen, allegedly pointed a gun at him and pretended to fire the weapon.

A Buford man said a teenaged male traveling in a vehicle at Bogan Park with several other teens pointed a gun at him and his family and pretended to fire the weapon.

Gwinnett County Police met with the man at Bogan Park on March 16 shortly after the incident occurred.

The man said he and his family were in their vehicle heading out of the park after a baseball game when a silver passenger car traveling in the opposite direction drew near. The man said the vehicle was full of teens and he could hear loud music playing.

"[The man] said as they started to pass the car, the mixed race or white male in the center of the back seat pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun. [The man] said as their cars got closer to one another, he saw the subject wink and jerk the gun back pretending to fire it as it was pointed at him and his family," the officer wrote in the report.

The man turned his vehicle around and followed the silver car. The man told police some of his acquaintances who were still at the park realized something was wrong and stepped in front of the car to stop it.

According to the Buford man, the teens denied having a gun when confronted and, after an exchange of words, "the car sped off through the park."

The man provided police with the tag number of the vehicle. Registration records indicated the vehicle belonged to a Dacula man. Two officers went to the home in Belfaire subdivision and spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle. The owner said the vehicle was driven by his teenaged son and immediately called his son home to speak with the officers.
