According to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Service public information officer Capt. Tommy Rutledge, the tractor trailer was a tandem hauler, which is a cab with two trailers attached. The truck overturned and went partially down an embankment. The second trailer was carrying a load which included one 55-gallon drum of a flammable liquid material believed to be ethyl acetate.

Three wreckers was called to assist with what Rutledge described as a "tedious operation." Once the trailers were uprighted, GCFES hazmat personnel were able to evaluate the condition of the drum.

"The drum was found to be intact with no active spill or leak," Rutledge said in a released statement.

Due to presence of the flammable material, crews took precautions during the operation in order to avoid causing an unintentional leak or ignition source, Rutledge said.

The driver of the tractor trailer was treated at the scene and released. The cause of the accident is under investigation by police.
