Late-Night Tractor-Trailer Wreck Closes I-85 Near Hamilton Mill Road
The truck was lying on its side when first responders arrived.
An overturned tractor-trailer near Hamilton Mill Road closed a stretch of I-85 northbound near mile marker 118 late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
Gwinnett Fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the driver, who was carrying a load of old clothing, was not injured in the single-vehicle accident. Crews found the truck lying on its side around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14.
Firefighters had to contain a small fuel leak from a saddle tank on the truck before it was up-righted and removed from the roadway. Fire crews cleared the scene at 1:37 a.m., turning it over to Gwinnett Police, who are investigating the cause of the accident.
