Man Accused of Threatening to Shoot Woman and Dog

Woman not injured during confrontation.

A Dacula woman contacted authorities on June 8 after a man allegedly pointed a gun at her and threatened her while she was moving out of a Luke Edwards Road home.

The woman said she had been evicted from the residence and was removing her belongings when she noticed a man sitting in a pickup truck watching her. At one point, the woman’s dog ran towards the man and the man reportedly pulled a handgun and pointed it at the dog. The woman told the responding officer the man threatened to shoot the dog and then threatened to shoot her if she did not get the dog away from him.

When questioned by the officer, the male said he was friends with the woman’s landlord and was watching to make sure the woman did not remove any items from the residence that did not belong to her. The man admitted having a handgun in his truck and said he pointed it at the dog, but not at the woman. According to the police report, the man said he told the woman, “Come get your [expletive deleted] dog or I am going to shoot it.”

The woman informed the officer she did not want to press charges, she simply wanted to leave the property. She did ask for a report in case the man pointed the gun at her again.

Before the officer left the scene, the woman advised she intended to leave the dog behind with some food and water. The officer informed the woman she could be charged with animal cruelty if she did so and asked if she wanted to turn the dog over to animal control. The woman agreed to surrender the black Labrador to animal control officers. According to Gwinnett County Animal Control, the dog was put to sleep the same day due to the fact it exhibited aggressive behavior and had not been immunized.
