Man Arrested after Causing Scene at QuikTrip

Suspect shouted profanity, racial slurs in parking lot.

A Lawrenceville man was arrested on Feb. 5 after creating a disturbance at the .

According to the police report, the suspect, Robert Stafford Jr. of 205 Omega Street in Lawrenceville, was a passenger in a vehicle when he began arguing with the driver and another passenger. The driver told police he felt threatened by Stafford and pulled over to call 911.

While the officer was speaking with the driver, Stafford began yelling profanities and using pejorative terms for females and African Americans. The officer, noting that other QuikTrip customers could hear what was being said, instructed Stafford to calm down and stop cursing.

Stafford, who the officer described as having a “strong odor of an alcoholic type beverage emitting from his person,” continued to swear. The officer once again warned him to stop before resuming his conversation with the driver.

As the officer was attempting to gather further information, Stafford swore at the driver across the parking lot. When the officer again told Stafford to stop cursing, Stafford replied with a string of profanity and pejorative terms.

At that point, the officer placed Stafford under arrest. According to the officer’s report, Stafford begged not to be taken to jail. When the officer refused, Stafford swore at him.

Stafford was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center and issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
