Man Calls Police After Money Refused

Burger King employee informs customer than $20 bill is counterfeit.

A Covington man found himself out $20 after trying to pay for his meal with a counterfeit bill.

The man tendered the fake currency at the Burger King on Dacula Road. An employee used a detection marker to test the bill and informed the victim the money was counterfeit.

The victim told police he most likely received the bill after making a gasoline purchase the previous day in Covington. According to the police report, the bill had none of the security features present on actual currency such as the watermark, security stripe or microprinting. In the report, the officer noted the ink on the bill was smeared from moisture.
