Mother Drops Son Off at Dentist Before Allegedly Shoplifting School Supplies from Publix

Arrangements had to be made with a family member to pick up the child following the woman's arrest.

A woman arrested Aug. 7 for allegedly shoplifting school supplies from the Hamilton Mill Publix had left her son at a dentist's office prior to the incident, despite it being against the dental office's policy.

A Gwinnett police officer responded to the store and met with a loss prevention associate who said the suspect was observed grabbing school supplies from shelves and shoving them into a large, fabric bag.

The suspect admitted to the officer she had concealed the items and intended to leave the store without paying. She apologized for her actions, according to an incident report.

A relative was contacted to pick up the suspect's son from the dentist, and the mother, Dawn Marie Lynch of 5533 Rolling Mist Court in Flowery Branch, was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting.
