Neighbor Calls Cops After Seeing Males Exit Home Carrying TVs Wrapped in Towels

The home was later discovered to have been ransacked. Two other nearby homes were also burglarized on the same day.

A neighbor called police to report suspicious activity at a Dacula home, but, by the time police arrived, it was too late.

The River Run Drive resident called authorities on the morning of Oct. 16 after noticing a suspicious silver car, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, parked in her neighbor's driveway.

"What made it suspicious," the officer noted in the report, "was the driver honked the horn and two younger looking black males came out carrying what appeared to be TVs wrapped in towels."

The officer checked the home and discovered the rear door had been forced open and the home ransacked. The resident arrived home a short time later and advised two flat screen televisions had been stolen as well as two laptops and a Kindle.

Later that day, another burglary was reported less than five miles away from the River Run Drive location. A Mitford Lane resident said she left her home at 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Oct. 16. When she returned at around 2 p.m., she noticed her hallway closet was open and a bottle of vodka had been left in the middle of her kitchen floor.

The rear door of the home had been forced open and the home searched. According to the resident, the intruders had gone through all the drawers and used a hammer to open a safe in the bedroom closet. A laptop, several credit cards, a camera, an xBox and several other items were taken.

Also on Oct. 16, a third home -- just over two miles away from the Mitford Lane home -- was also burglarized. The Oak Valley Road resident told police that at some point between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., someone kicked open his basement door, entered his home and stole a computer monitor. The man said his wife believed some boxes may have been rummaged through, but he did not know if any other items were missing. According to the resident, the basement is the only part of the house not protected by an alarm system and his large dogs were in the house. The man indicated he is currently in the midst of a custody battle with his ex-wife, but added it had been a while since he had heard from her.

All three cases are listed as active.
