Neighbors Heard Shots, Car Engine Revving During Hamilton Mill Dispute

Gwinnett County Police interviewed neighbors while other officers and detectives executed a search warrant related to a Sept. 14 incident in the Dacula subdivision.

At least four neighbors heard shots fired during a Sept. 14 dispute in Hamilton Mill.

On Sept. 24, police executed a search warrant at a Millmoore Terrace home in connection with the case. While uniformed officers and detectives executed the search warrant, another officer canvassed neighboring homes in an attempt to locate witnesses to the incident during which a Hamilton Mill teen was accused of firing two shots in the direction of a Buford teen.

Of the neighbors interviewed by police, four indicated hearing two shots during the early morning hours of Sept. 14. One of the neighbors who heard the shots looked outside and saw the Hamilton Mill teen "with his hand to his side with his chest puffed out."

Two of the neighbors interviewed also reported hearing the sound of a car leaving the scene after the shots were fired. One of the neighbors referred to the sound as the revving of an engine.

In an email to Dacula Patch, GCPD public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith indicated there is an "arrest report pending approval" in connection with the case. Two warrants were issued for the Hamilton Mill teen on Oct. 2 -- one for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one for discharging a firearm near a public highway or street -- but police have not confirmed the warrants are related to the Sept. 14 incident. As of the afternoon of Oct. 7, the Hamilton Mill teen has not been booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
