Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspect

GCPD detectives use traffic pullover information to track down Derrick Cage, 28, of Snellville. Police believe he may be responsible for 15 armed robberies in Gwinnett County.

A man believed to be responsible for a series of armed robberies throughout Gwinnett County is now in custody.

Derrick Cage, 28, of Snellville was arrested at his home without incident Jan. 17. 

Last week, who had primarily targeted cell phone stores but had also robbed two appliance stores, a tobacco shop, and attempted a robbery at a Days Inn.

On multiple occasions, the suspect had been seen fleeing the scene in a silver 2006-2010 Dodge Charger with a sun roof and stock chrome wheels. According to a GCPD press release, Norcross Police were able to determine the suspect's vehicle had a Michigan license plate. GCPD detectives learned only a few silver Dodge Chargers with Michigan plates had been stopped in Gwinnett County. One of the stopped vehicles was registered to Cage, who was a close physical match to the armed robbery suspect.

"Detectives of this agency and several city agencies within the county believe that Cage is responsible for a total of 15 armed robberies within Gwinnett," said GCPD public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith in a released statement.

Cage is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
