Police were called to the 2600 block of Kachina Trail in the Apalachee Heritage subdivision in Dacula on Friday, March 1, at 10:07 a.m. by Courtney's husband, Egbert Courtney, 60. Upon arrival, officers found Sonia Courtney dead of an apparent gun shot wound.

Gwinnett County Police Department public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith said Egbert Courtney was cooperative and taken into custody without incident.

According to a media release issued Friday evening, detectives determined the shooting occurred in the wake of a domestic dispute. Smith indicated the details of the argument and shooting will not be released prior to trial.

Egbert Courtney has been charged with aggravated assault, felony murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

He remains jailed without bond.

OMG, you guys are worried about where the street is located? Get a grip. This is a completed, one time event. The suspect is in custody and has admitted to the offense, case closed. What are you planning on doing a drive by to see if you can see the blood stains. Just pray for the loss and move alone.

Kristi, Wasn't this face seen last month for domestic abuse? His face looks like I have seen it on this sight before. Gumdrop. people want to know where a crime is committed for various reasons. One might be to see how close crime has come to their own street. Another may be because they know some bit of information about the crime but want to be sure of the location before they notify the police. Another reason is because maybe their children had a play date with this family. Another reason might be that this families children might be on their children's sport's team and they may not know the family all that well but maybe dropped of the victim's child after sports one time. Of course there are those who just can't get their head around the fact that men kill their wives here in Dacula and need to see the home for themselves to find anything that will say,"Yes, maybe it could happen to them but surely not to me!" Loosing another woman to domestic abuse is horrible. The entire family is changed for the worse including the killer's family. Many time people will decide to become involved in a positive program or even begin their own program after being affected greatly by such a horrible event. Many programs and charities are now in place because some caring person can not just "MOVE ALONG" Thank God for the many who are touched by tragic events and make something positive come from it.
